HELLO JEAN-CLAUDE! CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR CAREER BEFORE MATMOND?
Hello ! My name is Jean-Claude, I’m 46 years old and I’m originally from Moselle, in the East of France. I studied business (DUT, then a Master’s degree in management and a Master’s degree in Marketing & Strategy). I’ve already had two careers, the first one in retail where I had the chance to work in Belgium and China. Then I had a second career, as a consultant, where I helped companies set up in Brazil. So I have also lived in Brazil! As of today, I have been living in La Rochelle for 7 years with my wife and two children aged 3 and 5. I started my third career a year ago when I joined Matmond!
CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR JOB?
My job is export sales manager. I concentrate on specific areas: Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle East and South America. The aim is to offer used copiers either in small quantities (groupage) or by container.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ASPECT OF EXPORT SALES?
What I like is the international aspect of the job, being in contact with people from different cultures. Also, we sell a good product, in an eco-responsible way by giving them a new life. Most of the copiers we receive are still in good condition! I prefer them to arrive at our premises rather than at the waste disposal centre. We’re doing a little something for the planet while making profit for the companies we trade with!
EXACTLY! MATMOND IS DRIVEN BY AN ECO-RESPONSIBLE APPROACHES AND IS ISO 14001 CERTIFIED. BEYOND ECOLOGICAL AWARENESS, WHAT SKILLS OR QUALITIES ARE ESSENTIAL TO BE A GOOD EXPORT SALESMAN?
I would say organisation, perseverance and above all, reactivity! You also have to accept working late, sometimes with the time difference. If I receive a message at 10pm, I try to be reactive and answer it. But that’s what I like!
LAST QUESTION, FOR YOU, WHAT IS THE STRONG POINT OF MATMOND?
The product is our strong point. It is of high quality. So is our service. Everything is of good quality! But also, the human aspect. We work in a friendly and supportive spirit.
